Matterhorn Express Pipeline Project

Location: Texas (Southwest Region)

The Matterhorn Express Pipeline project consisted of approximately 606 miles of pipeline ranging in size from 12” to 42” in diameter and is designed for up to 2.5 Bcf per day of natural gas. The origination point is in West Texas near Coyanosa, Texas, with a delivery in Southeast Texas in Wharton County, Texas at the Coastal Bend Header (CBH). This project included the 81-mile Waha to Rankin Lateral, the 79-mile Stanton Lateral, 400-mile mainline, nine smaller laterals, eight compressor stations, a variety of ancillary facilities and sites, including 27-meter stations, 8 temporary launcher/receiver sites, 39 mainline valve sites, and 4 temporary contractor yards.

Waha to Rankin and Stanton Laterals

Construction for the Waha to Rankin Lateral and Stanton Lateral (including 3 small laterals) began ahead of schedule in February 2023 and was placed in-service around January 1, 2024. Mainline construction (4 spreads) began late 3rd quarter/early 4th quarter 2023.

Additional Laterals

Additional laterals were added as part of the MXP Expansion, including 4 pipeline laterals, 4 compressor stations, and 6 new meter stations began construction in June of 2024. Gulf Companies has been responsible for the Design/Drafting, Engineering, Geospatial Services, Procurement, and Construction Management of this project.
