As part of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline Project, Gulf Companies supported the offshore (nearshore) development of a Marine Export Terminal in Tanga, Tanzania. The terminal included four storage tanks, each with a capacity of 500,000 barrels, providing a total onshore storage volume of 2 million barrels. Additional facilities included a trestle and jetty load-out system, pumping infrastructure for intra-tank transfers, and the capability to load Suezmax tankers at a rate of 41,667 barrels per hour. Gulf’s role encompassed FEED and Procurement services to support the terminal’s efficient and reliable design, enabling the seamless export of waxy crude to global markets.
