Gulf Companies supported the development of a 1,450-kilometer, 24-inch thermally insulated, and electrically heat-traced pipeline system designed to transport heavy, waxy crude oil from Uganda to the port of Tanga, Tanzania. The system required continuous temperature control to ensure flow assurance over long distances. Gulf provided Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Procurement services, including the development of a Long Line Heat Transfer (LLHT) system powered by crude-fueled generators. This conventional heat trace system was engineered to maintain specific pipeline temperatures, and Gulf’s standardized “design once, build many” approach helped streamline execution and reduce lifecycle costs across multiple stations.
